  • The Sana Project in Kashmir began as a skill upgradation initiative of The Guild, supported by the Global Fund for Widows. Widows who had basic knowledge of traditional forms of embroidery such as Sozni and Aari were provided specialized training in fine embroidery, color selection, and design variations by skilled instructors.

  • After completing the three-month course, the women enhanced their skills and knowledge through the Craft Institute of Jammu and Kashmir.

  • Most of the participants passed with flying colors and received certificates, enabling them to secure jobs with boutiques and designers or to start their own embroidery units with the help of bank loans.

  • The main aim of the project was to economically empower widowed women and ensure that they receive fair remuneration for their skills.
