Dr. V. Mohini Giri, Social Activist, Writer, Scholar and a leader in the women's movement, is the voice for women, peace and justice in India and South Asia. Specializing in human rights and gender justice. She is renowned both nationally and internationally for her four decades of committed work in empowering women politically, socially, legally and economically. Has worked relentlessly for the cause of National Integration. Has done pioneering work for the war affected families since the past four decades.

The term ‘empowerment’ has a deep meaning attached to it. It is associated with adjectives which include self-reliance, confidence, courage, knowledge and the ability to live life on one’s own terms. The Indian society being essentially a patriarchal society has always felt the need for empowering its women. From Purdah to Panchayats, the women in our country have come a long way. A pioneer in the women’s movement in India, the Guild too has come a long way in empowering women and instilling a sense of self reliance in them. It was indeed a red letter day for the Guild to have celebrated the National Integration and Empowerment Day on the 21st of November 2009 and to look back at the four decades of dedicated service and its achievements in the span.

What We do
The first ever housekeeping training programme started and later made a mark with the Department of Women and Child Development. We were invited to most ministerial meetings as there were only a handful of NGOs like AIWC, Indian Council of Child Welfare, National Council of Indian Women, Bhartiya Mahila Gramin Sang, etc. We had close interaction with Ms. Raksha Saran, Ms. Menon and Ms. Veena Majumdar.
